While public reaction is mixed about the recent accusation that the National Security Agency collected records on millions of domestic phone calls, it appears that the government's performance was also mixed.
BellSouth says the Feds never asked it for phone records. Qwest says it was asked, and said no, and was not asked again. Verizon says it could neither confirm nor deny that it helped.
